Congratulations to the Green High Boys Varsity Golf Team as they advance to next week's Division I State Golf Championship in Columbus, Ohio at Ohio State's Scarlet Course for the second year in a row. The boys shot a round of 318 to finish in fourth place which was good enough to earn a spot in the finals. The Bulldogs started on the back nine and Junior Kyle Smith once again led the Bulldogs with a round of 73 which included a 3 over par round of 38 on the back nine and a one under par finish on the front side which included one birdie and eight pars. Senior Grant Schlue exhibited some outstanding Senior leadership by finishing his round of 77 with an exciting birdie-par-birdie finish. Also in the scoring mix was Junior Brady Trejbal shooting 82 going even par for his last seven holes which included one birdie and one bogey. And rounding out the scoring for Green was Junior Evan Raymond with a score of 86 which included a very strong round of 40 for his first nine holes and pars on 3 of his last 4 holes. Playing but out of the scoring column was Junior Trez Cobb with a 90 and Trez parred his last two holes. Also qualifying with the Bulldogs were St. Ignatius 289, Hoban 297, and another Federal League Team, Jackson 308. One shot behind Green was Medina 319 who qualified in fifth place.The State Tournament will be played on Friday October 21 and Saturday October 22.
