What a game. For a stretch in the second half it looked like Green might lose a game they were in control of the whole way. A bobble and a weird bounce gave Louisville their first goal. A rather agricultural challenge at midfield led to their second. The Bulldogs were reeling with half an hour to play and an aggressive Louisville crowd was urging the Leopards on.
Thankfully, the talent on the field for Green eventually told. Owen Smythe was tugged down in the box and converted his penalty. Green kept pressing and dominating the ball, holding it for 60% of the game and winning 19 set pieces. With enough time to set up a grandstand finish, Max McKee smashed in an equalizer from near the edge of the box. As Louisville continued to try to kick their way through the game, Green piled on the pressure. A couple of late chances went by the boards, but Green was worth their money in a hard fought draw.
Gavin Shawbell took home the belt for 4.5 miles of relentless running capped by a 60 yard sprint to win back possession in the second half.
