Green Lady Bulldogs beat the Hoover Vikings in a thrilling overtime victory! 

The Bulldogs struggled in the first half to take care of the ball and defend the paint, which led to a 7-point deficit at half-time (19-26). Alyssa Ziehler had 6 of the team's 11 points in the 3rd but Hoover was still able to outscore the Bulldogs. 

The 4th quarter was a different story. Entering the 4th quarter (down 11 points), Green was able to put together a defensive surge to turn the Vikings over and gain extra possessions for themselves. Freshman, Riley Chmielewski, was able to connect 3 field goals along with Ziehler's and Payne's 4 points respectfully to put the Bulldogs within striking distance- 47-50 with 14 seconds left and a sideline throw-in for Green by their bench. Then, sophomore, Lizzie Piercy, was able to connect on a 3 pointer to put the game into overtime!

The next four minutes of this nail-biting game was a battle of will and determination. Green was able to hold Hoover to just one field goal (Walker's 3-pointer) in the extra time with Davis adding three free throws. Olivia Payne, who had 6 assists in the second half alone, was able to connect with 2 field goals. After trading baskets, it was a tie game with about 40 seconds to go. Senior, Kendall Anenson, hit what ended up being a game-winning jumper. Hoover had a chance but Chmielewski had other plans and was able to defend Payton Davis's 3-point shot to seal the game.

The Lady Bulldog's Varsity is now 3-1 and their JV is 4-0! Green takes on Lake High School Saturday with JV at 1:00 pm and Varsity at 2:15 pm for their home-opener. Come out and support!
