Girls basketball defeated #6 seed Jackson High School to advance to the district semi-final game tonight 50-47. The Lady Bulldog's defensive pressure turned Jackson over 9 times in the first half to go into halftime 28-22. Ziehler (12) and Payne (9) combined for 21 of the 28 points for Green in the first half. The third quarter was an even match with both teams scoring 13 going into the 4th. Jackson made a strong push in the 4th quarter to make the game close. It was 47-48 with Green ahead and 18 seconds left when Jackson had to foul. Madi Pukansky stepped up and drained both free throws to make it a 3-point game with time left for Jackson to draw up a sideline out-of bounds play by their basket. A great team defensive effort led to a missed 3 and a rebound was secured by Olivia Payne to seal the win. Payne finished the night with 19 points. Ziehler was the second leading scorer with 14 and Brianna Hunt added 8. Madi Pukansky and Mallory Oddo both played phenomenal defense tonight to help limit Jackson's scorers.

This win marks the first time the program has made it to a district game since February 23, 2012. Green will take on #7 seeded Nordonia High School on the road on Tuesday February 23rd at 7:00 pm.
