Boys Varsity Golf vs. Divion I District Golf Tournament

Game Date
Oct 9, 2023

On Monday, October 9, 2023, it was a chilly day in Northeast Ohio, but the Green Boys Varsity Golf Team was on fire. The Bulldogs earned their third straight trip to the Division I State Golf Tournament by coming in fourth in yesterday's Division I District Golf Tournament at Pine Hills Golf Club near Hinckley, Ohio. The boys shot one of their best rounds of the season of 305 which was just behind winner, Hudson (298), Hoban (299), and St. Ignatius (301) The Bulldogs edged out their Federal League rival Jackson (307) who placed fifth and is also going on to the State Tournament. Green's Senior Kyle Smith looked like he was going to win Medalist Honors for the tournament with his score of 2 under 69 but was left with the Runner-Up medal when St. Ignatius Senior Brad Chill dropped in a putt for birdie on his last hole to shoot 68. Kyle was Green's leading scorer with a one over par score of 36 on his first nine and a blazing score of 3 under par 33 on his second nine giving him a round of 2 under par 69. Senior Evan Raymond struggled on his first nine with a double bogey on his ninth hole for a 41. However, Evan was not done. His second nine was outstanding with two birdies giving him an even par round od 36 to total 77. Sophomore Silas Kirkpatrick's round looked like it was over at the start with him going bogey and triple bogey on his first two holes. But Silas did not give up. In his final seven holes on his first nine he was even par with one birdie and a bogey to give him a 39. In his final 9 he carded a score of 40 which included one birdie, five pars, one bogey and two double bogeys for a 79. Also scoring for Green was Senior Brady Trejbal who shot a round of 80. Brady also struggled on his first nine shooting 42 and then caught fire on his second nine shooting a 2 over par 38 with one birdie, five pars, and three bogeys for his round. Senior Trez Cobb was Green's fifth man but did not score with a round of 49-45 -94. One amazing feat is that Seniors Trez Cobb and Kyle Smith have played in four straight District Tournaments which have resulted in Green advancing to three straight trips to the State. Congratulations Green Bulldogs and Coach Greg Andrego. The team will tee off on Friday, October 20th on the Scarlet Course at The Ohio State Scarlet Course, the home of Max Moldovan.
